Jackson, Mississippi (CNN) -- Winston Thompson with The Cochran Firm - Jackson office is representing the family of James Craig Anderson. Mr. Anderson died as a result of a racially motivated hate crime murder that occurred on June 26, 2011.
James Craig Anderson, who is black, was killed when two young white men - Deryl Dedmon & accomplice John Aaron Rice - drove into him with a pick-up truck in Jackson, Mississippi on June 26. According to the Daily Mail, the young men, both 18, were allegedly looking for a black man to assault and one of the men, Deryl Dedmon, even bragged about Mr. Anderson's murder, the prosecutor said.
Mr. Anderson was run over by a Ford pickup outside a Jackson hotel near dawn on June 26 and died later in hospital, District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith said during a bond hearing for Deryl Dedmon, who is accused of driving the truck. Read the full article on CNN
