Brandi Hawkins

Brandi Hawkins is an associate of Cochran Firm, South Florida.  Ms. Hawkins focuses her practice on criminal defense, employment, and labor law.  Ms. Hawkins earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin.  She went on to earn her juris doctor from the University of Miami School of Law where she was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and an Honors Award recipient in Criminal Litigation Skills. 

Hawkins began her legal career as a staff attorney in the Juvenile Rights Division for The Legal Aid Society in Bronx, NY where she represented juvenile delinquency clients in criminal proceedings in Family Court and litigated on behalf of clients in foster care in child abuse, neglect, custody, visitation, and guardianship hearings.

Prior to joining the Cochran Firm, Hawkins worked as a trial attorney at Fine, Olin & Anderman, LLP in New York, NY in the general litigation department.  In that capacity, she represented members of two large statewide unions in the areas of criminal, labor, employment, family, and matrimonial law. 
She also managed and coordinated the law firm’s representation of union members statewide in criminal matters arising from labor strikes.  Ms. Hawkins also acted as a liason between the NYPD and striking union members on the picket lines. 

In her criminal practice, Ms. Hawkins has successfully represented clients from all backgrounds on a wide variety of criminal charges including assault, theft, robbery, domestic violence, DUI, weapons, sexual assault, and possession of drugs.

In her employment practice, Ms. Hawkins has spent the majority of her career fighting for workers’ rights.  She has represented numerous clients facing job termination and other disciplinary action at arbitrations, formal hearings, as well as investigational depositions.  She also has experience representing clients in various types of employment discrimination matters.

Hawkins is licensed to practice law in Florida and New York.
